Wines of Wilhelmina's — Pinot Noir

Each month, our very own Mikey Hamilton pours some of his favourite vino to showcase different varieties throughout the year. It's a great way to wrap up a Saturday afternoon in Balmain, kick off your evening at Wilhelmina's while learning a thing or two about the wines we love.

Pinot noir grapes are grown around the world, mostly in the cooler regions, but the grape is chiefly associated with the Burgundy region of France.

Price includes 5-6 wines and some snacks during the tasting.

Pinot Noir wine is produced from red grapes but it is much lighter in colour than other red wines. Pinot Noir flavours and aromas include roses, fruits, black cherry, berry, and currant. Other Pinot Noir characteristics include high acidity and low tannins. Pinot Noir's flavour depends heavily where it is grown and how the wine maker treats it. A good winery can produce exceptional wines, however, the grape itself is finicky and can produce poor wines even with proper methodology.
